The only thing I would say that someone from his viewpoint should think about is that there is much more going on than just good vs. evil, right vs. wrong… wealth redistribution and all of the ‘hot button’ topics. In my thought, these are almost distracting points from the real question… which is:
How do we make policy and programs so that every American citizen has the chance to excercise their civil liberties and continue to excercise their liberties generation after generation.
In that question is imlicit also that if we do a good job of excercising our own God given rights without trampling everyone else’s, then it is likely to have a positive effect on the rest of the world and thus eliminating much of the need to have armies, and wealth redistribution etc. etc.

Good points. I do agree with the “real questions” you bring up. I also think that, in an imperfect world, such real questions have to, at certain times, be supported by more basic questions, which I think Card does a good job of listing. For instance, generations of civil liberties depend on a nation that has reasonable security, and a solid economy. Sure, the programs and policies, and therefore the security, the economy etc. are interwoven to an extent, but I do think the points Card makes are important bases and support structures of the equally important “real questions”.
